What can I expect when I contact True Colours Hypnotherapy?
You will be speaking and working with Richard on a one to one basis. It will begin with a telephone conversation to obtain all the relevant information; your questions will be answered to dispel any fears or misapprehension about Hypnotherapy. Then an appointment will be made at a time that suits you to make the first step towards achieving your goal. After the call I can create a detailed treatment plan for you. After the phone call there may be some homework – nothing to worry or stress about, it’s not like at school. There may be an exercise involved that is tailored to your situation. These exercises (usually involving a pen and paper rather than an exercise mat and a Jane Fonda DVD) will help Richard to get up to speed with the situation and this will strengthen the success of the therapy. First Meeting – A more in-depth conversation will take place as there may be more questions or queries that will need to be discussed. Then the therapy will begin, instead of being something to dread you will actually look forward to your sessions. This session will last for around 60 minutes. Subsequent Sessions – Depending on the presenting condition/problem there may be a need for more sessions, this will be discussed during the initial telephone conversation. Subsequent sessions will take place at regular intervals (usually weekly or fortnightly), any longer and treatment may not be as effective. These sessions again will last around 60 minutes. How many sessions will I need? This will very much depend on the person and the nature of the problem. Some straight forward cases only require one session, others may typically require three but usually no more than six session. For example the True Colours Hypnotherapy MindCleanse Programme, which has been designed to find any underlying issues and go straight to the root cause of the problem usually requires between four to six sessions. Who can be hypnotised? The answer is anyone, there are those who say that they cannot be hypnotised but it will only work on those who want to be hypnotised and those who want positive change. Anyone not wanting to be hypnotised can’t be hypnotised against their will – it just will not work. How does hypnotherapy work? Hypnosis is a relaxed and focused state of mind brought about by the use of a set of relaxation techniques. It enhances your concentration and increases your responsiveness to positive suggestions in order to make the beneficial changes that you wish to make. Will I be asleep? No. You will be in a deeply relaxed state which means that the conscious mind will be relaxed and the sub-conscious mind can be accessed. Should you need to react to an emergency such as a fire alarm then you will wake from hypnosis quickly and safely. You will be totally aware of your surroundings. Will I be like a zombie or are there side effects? No. It’s very natural just like daydreaming. Daydreaming is a type of hypnosis but with eyes open and without a Hypnotherapist. There are no negative side effects whatsoever. It is completely safe, and you will feel relaxed and re-energised. Will I reveal something personal or private? No. Although you will be in a state of total relaxation you will remain in complete control throughout every session. You will only reveal what you want to reveal, the things you choose to keep private will remain just that. I am not sure about Hypnotherapy because of the things I have seen during stage hypnosis. Are they the same? This question is asked a lot, you are not the first to ask it. Stage Hypnosis is not the same as Hypnotherapy. It is true that they use hypnosis to get the subject in the correct state in order to cluck like a chicken or bark like a dog, however, Hypnotherapists use hypnosis to help the client and not to humiliate or entertain others. Besides the effects of stage hypnosis are temporary, however hypnotherapy can create positive, permanent change. Will all my personal information be kept confidential? True Colours Hypnotherapy adheres to the Data Protection Act and is bound by the General Hypnotherapy Register’s strict Code of Ethics. We hold confidentiality with utmost regard. My question is not listed above. What can I do? You may contact Richard as he is happy to discuss any question you may have. |
